Echo Valley Farm is a homestead farm in Loma Mar, California, one hour south of San Francisco and 15 minutes from the coast. This is a picturesque, historic property– an 1890’s farmhouse, 3 cabin circling a large meadow surrounded by the redwood forest and the Pescadero creek.
Under the watchful supervision of these grand old trees, we are the grateful caretakers of this magical spot in San Mateo County. We strive to be an open-minded, inclusive group of farmers with a shared vision of growing healthy food for ourselves and others and a commitment to best use of this land. Like so many of us these days, we are doing our best to contribute to promoting a real, viable local food system.
We call ourselves a “homestead” farm as it’s the best description of what we are up too in this little hamlet in the woods. This is a small farm. We do a bit of everything here. Our goal is, and we do, grow the majority of our own food and extra to share and extra-extra to sell at our local farmers market and the store 1/4 mile away. We grow vegetables, orchard fruit, nuts, and berries. With our cow’s milk we are learning to make cheese, butter and yogurt. We like to point out we are not a production farm. We are a for-the-love-of-it farm.
2013 we are concentrating on our milk producing animals, growing a really strong pasture, our egg production from our 120 layers, raising meat birds, berries and our orchard trees. We aspire to manage our land such that we leave our soil each year better than the year beforefacebook!
