Local, yum!
Like so many folks these days, we value participating in our local food economy and aim to offer one more excellent reason to “not drive over the hill” for food. What if we really could feed ourselves locally? It is a worthy goal. The world would be a healthier place. Okay, we’ll say it, it’s a patriotic quest. What a better place to find out than the South Coast where we are isolated from the greater Bay Area by the Santa Cruz mountains with some of the most fertile soil in the world? We think the best use of our land is growing food for ourselves and neighbors.
Echo Valley Farm is our opportunity to participate in a small way in this hugely important effort to feed our community, help build a local food system, relearn the food crafts of our grandparent’s generation and hopefully “grow” the soil a bit while we are at it. Which is all very lofty and noble but the whole truth is, rural living this is a fun way to live and we are throughly enjoying ourselves. As newbie farmers (Jeff and Kate) we are learning everyday, have soooo much more yet to learn and happy to share what we have gleaned. Please feel free to contact us, we’d love to hear from you.
